Evangelical Association (EA) Regional Update

On Saturday, March 22nd, Zion hosted the Second Annual Gateway Regional gathering of theEvangelical Association (EA), covering churches and pastors from Illinois, Southern Indiana, Missouri and 2 guest speakers from Michigan. Our Theme was “Come and See” based on Psalm 66:5 and John 1:46.

In addition to the opening and closing worship services (which were live-streamed and can be viewed from Zion’s website YouTube tab), we had a total of 6 workshops in 3 time slots. These were: “Confirmation – Laying a Foundation” - Pastor Steve Watson; “EA Mission Network” - Pastor Ed & Shirley Briggeman; “Recovering Evangelical Faith & Heritage” - Pastor Darrell; “Spiritual Autobiography” - Pastor Martha Friz-Langer; “Stewardship in God’s Kingdom” - Mr. Gary Franke; “The Art of Christian Meditation” - Pastor Mark Friz; and, “Your Job as a Church Officer” - Pastor Darrell.

Not counting Zion, we had 44 guests from 18 churches, with 15 pastors and 29 lay people - 13 from Illinois, 9 from Indiana, 20 from Missouri, and 2 from Michigan.

I am very proud of our Zion members, of which 28 served in a variety of ways: from set up to tear down, to preparing food items for breakfast and lunch to serving meals, registering guests and guiding them around our building, ushering, gathering the offering, serving communion, singing and making our new Zion t-shirts.
